Nuriootpa Crash – Barossa Locals Rescue Young Children from Fiery Collision

 

A serious car accident in Nuriootpa, South Australia, today left multiple people injured, including two young children, after a violent collision in the Barossa region.

The crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Old Kapunda Road, involving a ute and a truck. The impact scattered debris across the road and surrounding area, prompting an urgent response from emergency services.

At the scene, a 47-year-old man and two children—a five-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl—suffered serious injuries. Both children were airlifted to hospital, while the adults were transported by ambulance. The truck driver, a 26-year-old man, sustained only minor injuries but was reportedly in shock.

Local residents played a critical role in the rescue, helping pull those trapped—especially the young children—from the wreckage before emergency crews arrived. The truck caught fire during the crash, making the community’s quick action even more vital.
