MOORE COUNTY, N.C. — The Moore County community is grieving the tragic deaths of Antonio Jamal Brown, 41, of Raeford, and Jamar Brooks Hailey, 43, of Aberdeen, who were fatally shot Sunday evening in Jackson Hamlet.
According to the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a residence in the 100 block of Gaines Street around 9:30 p.m., where both men were discovered with apparent gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy is being conducted by the North Office of the Medical Examiner to determine the official cause and manner of their deaths.
Investigators have identified a person of interest believed to be connected to the incident, though that individual has not yet been located and is not currently considered a suspect. Early findings suggest the shooting was not random, and that the person of interest was known to the victims.
