OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — The Oklahoma City community is mourning the loss of Sandra Strampher-Perry, 72, who tragically died following a police-involved shooting on Interstate 44 in southwest Oklahoma City. Strampher-Perry, who would have turned 73 on Tuesday, passed away Friday evening after a series of events that ended in her death.

According to authorities, the incident began around 8:30 p.m. when Oklahoma County deputies responded to a report of a woman with a firearm at a residence on North Council Road near Northwest 164th Street in the Deer Creek area. Deputies instructed Strampher-Perry to put down the weapon, but she left the scene in a pickup truck, prompting a pursuit by law enforcement.

During the chase, deputies performed tactical vehicle intervention (TVI) maneuvers, but Strampher-Perry reportedly rammed one of the deputy’s vehicles and continued fleeing. The pursuit moved south onto Lake Hefner Parkway, with assistance from the Oklahoma City Police Department and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. On Interstate 44 near Southwest 59th Street, Strampher-Perry collided with another vehicle, injuring an innocent bystander, and reportedly pointed a firearm at law enforcement officers. Officers discharged their weapons, ultimately resulting in Strampher-Perry’s death. No law enforcement officers were injured.
